Moderns

G.K. Chesterton (1874-1936), one of the greatest early twentieth-century Christian apologists, famous for his use of paradox to point up the absurdity of modern orthodoxies.  His Everlasting Man helped inspire C.S. Lewis's conversion to Christianity.  Also known for his Father Brown detective stories.
